Each of the seven protagonists in this production, which was inspired by Shakespeare’s tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”, dreams about playing the role of Romeo. Starting from the auditions, the group of performers will measure up to Shakespeare’s scripts, trying out their emancipatory potential. Combining research work, integrational psychotherapy with keyboard accompaniment, bodybuilding and melodeclamation, the actors will set off on a search for un-obvious and rejected portraits of this famous theatrical lover.
Klaudia Hartung-Wójciak’s diploma production exploits a wealth of extra-verbal media of stage expression, above all music and movement. We will hear compositions by Claudio Monteverdi and Sergei Prokofiev (…) The production will not be short of an ironic approach to those portraits of our stage protagonist which have become enshrined in our collective memory and an auto-ironic distance of the actors to themselves.
